Musings, Smell, Poop, Personal FAIL, Awesome Idiocy, Brazil, Brasil

Uncategorized

Everywhere I go I’m always the first person to smell something… be it good, or more likely than not, bad. Case in point…. about 15 of us were gathered in Brazil to celebrate Christmas eve. Festivities for me, however, take a stark pause as I clearly smell poopness. So I get my sniffer in overdrive, […]

Travel, Recipes, Tucunare, Peacock Bass, Brazil, Brasil, Em Portugues

Uncategorized

Sometimes simple is the best recipe. “Peacock Bass” is a fish that is at the very top of my “one day need to catch” list. They are legend. Top-water, aggressive, muscular, territorial, and, as I now know…. ruthlessly delicious. I’ve never fished for them yet. I have, however, recently got to enjoy them in the […]

I find myself in Brazil, sipping a very nice Chilean red blend (Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, and Syrah from Palo Alto) with a fellow wine lover.  He speaks zero English and my Portuguese is hovering slightly above pathetic.  We both love the wine.  Others join us and soon a cacophony of lovely Brasilian Portuguese fills the […]

Brazil, Cabernet Sauvignon, Casa Valduga, “Elegance”, “Arte”, Rio Grande de Sur, 2008

Uncategorized

Note: this is a “meio seco fino”, which is like a demi-sec. I’m not generally a fan of such so take this rating with a grain of salt if you are a demi-wino lover. Casa Valduga makes some of Brazil’s best wines. This wine, in my opinion, is not one of those. C/ Pinot noir […]
