Germany, Riesling, Auslese, Cochemer Nikolausberg, Dr. Zenzen, Mosel, 2004

Riesling Cochemer Nikolausberg ZenzenC/ Dark yellow.

N/ Potently honeyed. Heavy petroleum oil wafts. River rocks and flint with a dash of lemon soap. Granite dust. (Perhaps this rested a bit too long in bottle).

T/ Medium-full mouthfeel. Medium oily. Thick nectar of peaches, apricots, and orange liquer. A hint of cranberry and apple pucker. White pear juice finish with a kiss of sunshine.

A delightful petroleum fruit ride. I’d guess that nearer vintages of this wine would rate solidly in the “A” range.

Price = ~$20

N = B
T = B
I = A-
Overall = B / B+

Note: label shot is from 2003, but wine rated was the 2004 vintage
